So, Saturday morning we got up and had PB sandwiches. I forgot to mention that we found a little épicerie and decided not to spend $11/person each morning on breakfast. Since the plan was to get up on our own time, we would be rising late and could just have lunch.
We were out on the town after coffee and sandwiches at about 10:00. We walked. And walked. And walked. It was wonderful. We had just bought new running shoes but not so new that we hadn't broken them in.
I forgot to mention that Friday night we passed a random skating rink just outside one of the gates. Not huge but covered with people skating. It was odd. We passed it several times on Saturday. We went around the Citadel, walked the boardwalk, went in and out of shops, strolled arm in arm around the town and just enjoyed ourselves. My shopping options were limited given my giant belly but we found some really nice gloves for fall for a great price (of course, now I've misplaced them, but that's a different story). We went to see Québec Parliament and the new water fountain that was given by France for their 400th anniversary. Due to a strategic error, we went up and down the scary côte about 100 times. It didn't affect us much...that day.
For lunch we went back to our épicerie and bought 2 of their spaghettis and ate them at our hotel. By that time we wanted a bit of a rest so we sat for a little bit. We looked at art, we looked at restaurants that were potentials for dinner knowing that Sunday night we wanted to go for a nicer dinner. We looked at a lot of the different touristy places. We basically just enjoyed our time together away from the world.
For dinner, we went to this little place that was empty. Neither of us was ravenous so we each got their plate of garlic bread, caesar salad and soup (French onion pour lui, French Canadian pea soup pour moi). Yummmm. We crashed early that night and I rediscovered my love of TLC...we don't get it at home and I miss it. Except that while we were there it seemed to be a marathon of the Duggars and they kind of get on my nerves after 10 minutes. It entertains the husband though because he gets to watch 10 minutes of Duggars followed by hours of ranting by me. He finds it amusing when I get The Rage as long as it's not directed at him.
