I'm an enabler
There's a woman at work who's a couple of years younger than me who goes and gets a cookie almost every day. She's super skinny so she can afford it but we've recently been wondering if she can manage without. These cookies are homemade in the caf, very good and weigh about 30 lbs, most of which is far we're sure. She tried to go without a few days last week but caved (resulting in the cafeteria lady saying "why are you so late, cookie-girl?"). Today she didn't have enough money so she wasn't going to get one. Then she asked me for money for one. After going down with her to buy one (as company, I didn't buy one), she ate it and then asked if she had chocolate on her face. The shame in her eyes was what you would expect from a coke addict checking for powder under their nose. She felt The Shame (TM).
