One thing that's perplexed me for awhile is why the French term for avocado and lawyer is the same - avocat. I realize that there are homonyms in English and that they often mean different things but they're often spelled differently or they're at least short words that aren't critical to understanding the meaning of a sentence (of course now I'm basically asking for some smartass aka Dad to come up with one immediately).
I'm picturing someone who doesn't have the greatest communication skills on their "one phone call" to their partner who's at the grocery store in France..."I need an avocat...please get me an avocat immediately". Could cause some confusion, non?
