Dashy's Newman

When we're out walking Dash, we regularly run into other dogs. Most of these dogs we know. Dash has his "girlfriends", some buddies, dogs he ignores (usually those who are older and won't play with him and Rocky, who's a little too needy for Dash), and dogs who don't like him (generally small, white and shaggy). Then there are his Newmans (Newmen?). When one of us comes back from a walk and says either that we ran into Newman or that we ran into Dashy's "baby with one eyebrow" the inevitable question is "the pointer or the attacker?". The pointer is a pointer of some kind who Dash just doesn't get along with. They've never been allowed to meet because they glare at each other and slyly maneuver to kill each other. The other dog is "the attacker". Dash has to be physically restrained from is "the attacker". This dog HATES my innocent baby. It's a retriever and it's the dog who's owner let play with Dash at which point it became aggressive and went after his ear. Incidentally - that was the last time I got my hair cut. Dash no longer actually has to be restrained. The other dog's owners drag their dog, snarling, barking and growling, off the path and Dash trots by with his eyes carefully watching him in a botched attempt at nonchalance.
