Good for you, you recycle. Did you know that if you stop rinsing out your containers carefully before recycling them, all that will change is that you'll waste less water? If you have a great big tub of moldy sour cream, yeah, rinse that please. If you're worried something will start to smell in the kitchen or it's summer and you're worried about bugs, okay. Otherwise, don't worry about giving the containers a thorough rinse, they do a better job cleaning them at the facilities.
Oh - and quick tip. Do you get annoyed with having a giant line-up of cans on the counter all of the time because people are too lazy to go to the recycling bin? Go get one of those tubs that's about a foot by a foot and deep-ish and stick it under your sink. Then you can wait until it's full to empty it and it's out of sight.
